The stock market was struggling to hold onto even modest gains on Tuesday.
The Dow was down 111 points, or 0.2%. The S&P 500 was up just 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.2%.
Though a slim majority of stocks in the S&P 500 were up on the day, market breadth was slipping. The Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF was up just 0.1%.
