The Nasdaq Composite shook off its early decline as Wall Street chased risk and momentum stocks.
The tech-heavy index rose 0.2%. The S&P 500 was up slightly. The Dow was still down 45 points, or 0.1%.
A majority of S&P 500 stocks were down on the day, but communication services, tech, and consumer discretionary were all enough to lift the market benchmark back to breakeven.
