The euro area unemployment rate dropped marginally in November, data from Eurostat showed on Thursday.
The jobless rate fell to 6.3 percent from 6.4 percent in October. The rate was expected to remain unchanged at 6.4 percent.
Data showed that 10.937 million people were unemployed in November, down by 71,000 from October. Compared to the last year, unemployment increased 253,000.
The youth unemployment rate dropped to 14.6 percent from 14.8 percent in October. Around 2.318 million young people aged below 25 were unemployed in November.
The unemployment rate in the EU27 was 6.0 percent in November, unchanged from October. The jobless rate among young people aged below 25 edged down to 15.1 percent from 15.2 percent a month ago.
