New Zealand posted a merchandise trade surplus of NZ$52 million in December, Statistics New Zealand said on Thursday.
That beat forecasts for a surplus of NZ$30 million following the downwardly revised NZ$335 million deficit in November (originally – NZ$163 million).
Exports rose 15 percent on year to NZ$991 million in December to NZ$7.7 billion.
Imports climbed an annual 15 percent to NZ$975 million in December 2025 to NZ$7.6 billion.
